Pedagogy of documentary
discourse strategies surrounding the interview, in short films produced by journalism students

Based on an experience with the course Documentary Narratives (UAM), we examine the presence of voice, testimonies, and political-discursive strategies as perceived by undergraduate journalism students. To this end, we combined three steps: a) a theoretical discussion on the presence of voice in documentary (Bernardet; Lins; Nichols); b) a description of the pedagogical experience with the students; and c) an analysis of the short films produced as final projects, emphasizing the intersections between the interview, journalistic genres, and contemporary audiovisual strategies – such as the staging of everyday life, the feminist perspective on minorities, the music video, and advertising
