This study explores art as a cultural and identity phenomenon, with an emphasis on the Amazon, highlighting Lotman's concept of archiseme of sad passion and its connections to subliminality. Through an intertextual analysis of literary and historical texts, including the novel A Amazônia Misteriosa and the travel diary A Amazônia que eu vi, both by Gastão Luis Cruls, the investigation focuses on how certain narrative and lexematic resources produce meaning and evoke interdiscourses. The archiseme is analyzed as a network of semes, where words transcend mere superficial meanings to compose significant structures through lexemes, as argued by Greimas and Rastier. The study also addresses interdiscursivity, described as "twin signs," revealing the aesthetic and cognitive richness of the narratives analyzed. Finally, based on ideological, temporal, and representational operative codes, the research seeks to understand the articulations between science, fantasy, and art in the construction of an Amazonian imaginary.
